Mission, Beliefs, Desired Results for Student Learning

In the world today, change is evident everywhere. Indeed the acceleration rate of change is tremendous. No longer do we consider yesterday’s products as final or finished. Even as we produce for today, we research for a better product for tomorrow. The basic purposes and objectives of education are constantly subject to continuous evaluation. The staff of Wahlquist Junior High School recognizes and accepts responsibility for the design of an educational program that promotes each student’s ability to change and adapt. Improvement and evaluation of past and present procedures as well as the testing of new ideas and concepts is a continuous process for us. We support each other and work together in a dedicated effort to be on the frontier of new educational methodology. In this quest, however, we are cautious that we keep a balanced sense of values, holding fast to those ideas and methods that have survived the test of time, yet moving forward testing new methods and ideas. We must be careful that we not let trivia dominate the significant as we work through the problems.

We are committed to the establishment of a total learning atmosphere that will enhance the intellectual, social, emotional, aesthetic, physical and developmental needs of each individual. We recognize that there is no greater honor than being identified as knowledgeable, dedicated, empathetic master teachers. Furthermore, we are dedicated to create the best educational program possible for each child. With such a philosophy, it is mandatory that we incorporate into our system those educational, innovative methods and technologies that will help us provide each student with the knowledge and values to continue to grow and become a productive member of society. While striving for this goal, as educators, we must always ask ourselves, “What is best for the student?”
