Time to celebrate! Congratulations to the boys basketball
team for winning the District Championship in an undefeated season!
They have represented Wahlquist Junior High, both individually
and as a team, in a manner that reflects positively on our entire
student body. We are proud of their achievements both on and off
the court! The girls’ basketball team won their first season
game this week—we are expecting great things from this group
of talented gals.
Students involved in the school musical have been working hard
and practicing every night after school to get ready for their
annual production. “Seussical the Musical” will be
presented in the Fremont High School Auditorium on the evenings
of March 4,5, and 6. This production will offer an evening of
great family entertainment—please plan to attend.
Beginning February 25, Wahlquist Junior High students will be
involved in a school wide fundraiser sponsored by the PTSA. Students
will be selling chocolate Easter bunnies and eggs throughout the
community. Proceeds will go towards school improvement projects.
Mesa students spent a day at the Environmental Center engaged
in various activities. The school orchestra class also spent a
day and night at the environmental Center practicing and socializing.
National Junior Honor Society inductions were held last week for
100 students. Joel Hadley, a local athletic hero from Fremont
High School spoke to the students about goal setting. All NJHS
members will participate in a field trip to the Clark Planetarium
later this month.
The counselors are in the process of completing SEOP’s and
helping students select courses for next year. Preliminary numbers
from our sixth grade feeder schools indicate that we will be registering
60 more seventh graders next fall than last year. Eighth and ninth
grade registration for next fall will be completed in the next
two weeks.
